The Role
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here. The culture of the business is very relaxed and friendly, and is a very flexible working environmnent. I received a lot of support from my team and it was nice to have a community of other interns also to enjoy the placement with and to support each other.
My opinion was highly valued by both my managers and I would be asked my opinion on matters frequently by my wider account team.
There was a lot of time invested in making sure that I received lots of training on the job and ensured that I contributed to my personal development. However, I do feel that this could have been better addressed. I did receive a two week handover with the previous intern which was pivotal to my success.
I was really quite busy on a daily basis, and would stay late on a few occasions to finish my work, with my workload increasing as I learnt more about the business and became more knowledgeable. However, the more practice I got the quicker my pace , so this levelled out eventually and I was able to manage my workload. Typically working in Sales , the month end is always a lot busier than the beginning of the month so this also was a factor.
From the start I was given responsibilities, however more visibility/ ownership was given to these the more settled I became. Now at the end of my placement there is a lot of responsibility, where I will be the main POC for many internal processes, but this is manageable.
I feel that this placement has given me a lot of confidence and therefore will improve my confidence and ability to complete my degree and secure a good graduate job.I have drastically improved my presentation skills , which was one of the main skills I wanted to gain out of this internship, so this will help me of course, in my degree and my career. A huge part of this internship has been learning how to build relationships and maintain expectations with colleagues.
The Company
Friendly and relaxed, however quite a corporate and old fashioned at the same time.
This was well organised and we recieved regular training as a group of interns.
A high level of training and development, which was unexpected . The quality of the training was to a very high standard.
Flexi Time
Subsidised/Company Gym
National Travel
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Working from home
As a graduate scheme has just been put into place, this is a lot more appealing than when I began my internship.
The Culture
The interns communicated a lot, meeting every day for lunch and we all got along well. We had a few nights out which were really enjoyable. In my team in particular , they are a very sociable team having many nights out / meals in London. One of the responsibilities of the intern is to organise the team's Christmas party which was great fun and all paid for.
Relatively cheap. Reading is much easier and cheaper than living in London.
Relatively good student scene and town is relatively close to the office.
Quite a few events and activities going on in the local area.
