The Role
Tasks varied day to day. Obviously given the time frame it is difficult to grasp every aspect of the job, however, over the course of the internship tasks changed as we were able to cope with different more advanced requests.
As we got more involved with the day to day tasks it was easier to contribute towards the teams workload and as a result more valued by colleague.
Really good team mentality. If the boss was not there then someone else would always make sure you were on the right track with your tasks. Everyone was open to questions in the team, which helped.
Changed on a day to day basis. Obviously we could do everything that the rest of the team did. So if some of the simpler requests came in often some days we would be in late other days there was not much to do.
As the weeks went on responsibility increased. By contributing to real work of the team responsibility was definitely increasing all the time.
This internship would definitely be geared more towards a computer science type of degree, however, i do believe it has proved an invaluable experience in terms of getting an insight into the corporate life.
The Company
Good team ethic within the office. Definitely a work hard mentality with long hours often the case when resources were stretched.
Fairly well organized. A couple of trips down to London at the start and end of the internship. As well as an intern portfolio challenge running through it.
Some training at the start although the team was often stretched in terms of numbers so that understandably tapered off.
Company Parties/Events
Healthcare from home
Fairly good prospect of interns getting on the grad programme.
The Culture
A couple of events, dinner in london at the end of the placement as well as a bowling night in the middle of the placement.
Edinburgh is not that cheap.
lots of bars and clubs in the centre of edinburgh.
some football going on and a few team nights out.
