The Role
The placement is everything it claims to be and more. Before joining I had worked in retail for 6 years, yet I developed brand loyalty and a passion for the business very quickly, giving me the desire and the drive to perform and improve processes.
The Area managers and Store managers always took time to speak to you when in stores and gave very good training, always thanking you for working. The director team in Goldthorpe were particularly approachable and were willing to help and make themselves available whenever possible. Regular contact with directors really helped to make me feel valued throughout the year.
Again training and feedback were exceptional.
Every day presents a new challenge, and at Aldi there is always something to do or a process to improve. If your afraid of hard work and long hours then this isn't the placement for you.
I was responsible for leading a Store in Sheffield with over 30 members of staff, giving disciplinary, feedback and praise. I ran the store in the absence of the Store manager on several occasions.
I feel the skills I have developed at Aldi will stay with me forever. Communication, presentations, organisation and leadership skills are applicable to almost everything in life. I have also developed a repertoire of Aldi skills and I would very much like to return as a graduate.
The Company
Very good, all staff buy into the Aldi culture and AMS, which results in a very functional and friendly atmosphere.
Very, our training schedule and holidays were planned and set out from day 1.
They invest heavily, I was trained on things that will only be of use if I return as a graduate, therefore it is clear that the company want to keep placement students and make them into graduates, which makes financial and business sense.
