The Role
This is a very good Placement scheme. There is so much to learn and take away working at IBM. The intern community is the best part. There are so many of us and IBM really care for us. Many training opportunities are given to us so that we can develop as a person.
IBM recognize the effort you put into your work. Depending on your department there are always recognition talks going on at weekly huddles and meetings. Hard work and effort will not go un-recognized.
Support and guidance is given to you every step of the way. If you are stuck there is always help around you and everyone is always willing to help. Managers and colleagues are very supportive of the fact that you are an intern and you won't know very much at the start and will make time to help you understand.
The days varied, some were very busy and there would not even be time to go for a quick break. Whereas others would be slow and and the workload would be steady. It depends really who the clients are and what projects you are on.
You are given a fair amount of responsibility however this does not mean all the work is piled on you and it is down to you to complete it on your own. You are given guidance and training if needed and help is always around.
The skills and training I received during my time here at IBM will help me during my final year at University. Some tips that I have learnt, I know have put me in an advantage for final year as it will help a lot during my final project.
The Company
Warm and friendly. Everyone offers to help. The office was always positive even through hard times when clients could be getting on our nerves. Everyone is always smiling and we would all tend to organize social events such as drinks or lunch together which would allow us all to get to know each other more.
The Placement was well organized. We all had our induction and training which got us all up to speed with our roles and our tasks which we will be set on to do for the next couple of weeks. There was also a good range of training throughout the year which we would get the latest training on different areas in our department which was good also.
A large amount. The amount of training and developing offered was huge. There would possibly be at least one training session a week where we would be able to develop better as a person. This was good as we were able to get up to speed with the latest skills and requirements needed for our jobs.

Very appealing. The Graduate Scheme seems to offer a huge amount and there is so much that I could learn from it. It seems to very successful and hugely beneficial to the Graduates who take the Scheme. Therefore future employment with IBM is very likely for myself.
The Culture
Yes. The intern community was strong and there were two main events which were hosted. These were the IBM Intern Christmas Boat Party and also the End of Year IBM Intern Party. These were two very good parties which allowed us to network and get to meet new interns from different offices.
I worked in London, so the cost of living was extortionate, socializing as well. London is an expensive city and everything is over priced, It is not a good place to live if you are a student. Your income can cover it but you may not get any money left for saving.
The nightlife was good although I only managed to go out once. It was also very expensive.
The outside intern community was not as popular. Outside activities had to be organized on your own with your friends.
