The Role
A thoroughly enjoyable year which has given me invaluable experience and a whole host of transferable skills to take back to university and into my later career.
Although you are characterised as Interns by the business, you have a lot of responsibility from Day 1, especially due to the Business to Customer facing role, you are wholly trusted to portray and tow the company line in all of your dealings. You are often given ad-hoc projects and tasks to run alongside your day job which can be instrumental in the success of your team or business.
Great support available from all management and supervisors, The part of the business I worked in consisted of very approachable individuals who were always happy to help and provide guidance. Additionally, sitting in close proximity to my direct manager and director ensured I always felt I had the support available.
On a daily basis, I would say I am extremely busy, with a sales based role, your day is never truly finished as you can always be developing new areas and so you are constantly engaged and motivated. Due to the nature of the environment, you are set targets and key performance indicators which can add positive pressure to the role and helps you shape your week in order to meet the expectations set by the company.
Heaps of responsibility was entrusted upon me in my placement. Being in highly specialised and segmented recruitment markets meant that you may be the only or one of a number of people covering a large number of different companies and candidates, this means that ultimately, without you working hard, the business may be missing key opportunities to successfully fill roles.
Recruitment has fantastic transferable skills which can be taken to into your later studies and career. Basic soft skills which will enable you to engage with people within businesses and within your career are invaluable and the holistic view of the jobs market will allow to you to enter the world of work with your eyes open to what is achievable and how to successfully market yourself to the relevant positions.
The Company
Great atmosphere in the office, which ensured an enjoyable placement.
Extremely well set-up and organised with the internal recruitment team and management liaising to create a well thought out plan for your initial 12 weeks and beyond.
Training was always available at an individual level and on a group level when departmental issues are run through.
Financial Bonus
The Culture
Great social scene with constant events and nights-out organised and regular drinks after work.
Expensive, I was lucky enough to live nearby which alleviated the cost.
Lots of places to go, given the location.
