The Role
I really enjoyed my placement, as my team were all very welcoming and made me fit in really easily. I was given real responsibility and opportunities to prove myself in business.
I really enjoyed my placement, as my team were all very welcoming and made me fit in really easily.
I had regular 1-1's where i was able to raise any issues or problems i had so i felt fully supported throughtout my placement
Quick Busy, with my job there is always something going on, which i what i like about it, your never left bored!
Completing tenders is quite a responsibility and searching on a daily basis because if you miss something it could be flagged up by one of the sales teams and that makes you look bad as you didnt find it the first time around.
The main skills i gained was communication as im not very good talking to people on the phone, and using the Microsoft packages!
The Company
The office atmosphere is fantastic with those around you will to help out whenever you need a question to be answered. Lots of nights out and lunches were planned so there was always something to look forward to, especially the Annual Student Booze Cruise.
Once i had completed my online application form, i was then contacted after a couple of weeks with an invitation ton assessment day , which i attended in a hotel by the Uxbridge Office. I heard back within two days after the assessment center. I didnt get the job i wanted but my cv was passed on for another job in the same area and i got that insted, which i think has worked out better for me!
Xerox offers fantastic online learning resources and its at the students own responsibility to use these facilities. However students are encouraged to make the most out of there placement.
Company Parties/Events
Xerox offer graduate opportunities and making the most of the placement will help in getting a 'foot in the door' as those that have performed well can be offered the opportunity to come back
The Culture
Yes, the students went out once a week to a local club, bars! There were several events planned throughout the year,
I live at home so my cost of living was cheap, but socialising in and around Uxbridge isnt to badly priced, but the nearer you head in to London it can get expensive, but London is something you definetly have to experience if you live/work near Uxbridge.
There are bars and a Liquid Nightclub in Uxbridge, also in some of the surrounding areas, but London is definetly a must as there is so much choice.
Yes, i was past of the charities team that completed a swimathon for chairty, we swam the channel and back in a local swimming pool.
