The Role
High amount of responsibility make the placement challenging but extremely enjoyable.
Respected within the company by all levels of management. Work carried out during the placement (especially project work) had a genuine impact on the operation of the business helping them to improve going forward.
Any queries throughout my time at ALDI were answered in depth to allow full understanding. Members of staff from all levels were willing to help or give guidance when needed.
Busy! Due to the nature of the placement (doing a variety of different job roles) and the business model in which ALDI operate, all staff are expected to be multi-skilled making initial training intense. The store environment was extremely fast paced and unpredictable meaning that training is very much ongoing, not much downtime in this period!
The company have intense training plans in place which allow extreme levels of responsibility after a very short period of time. For example, after just 7 - 10 weeks of training, I was placing store orders and carrying out solo management shifts (managing around 20-30 employees).
Skills gained during my time at ALDI will be extremely useful going forward.
The Company
Very professional atmosphere in the office.
Visited every area of the regional operation during the placement. Placement plans were set at the start of the year so it was very easy to see where you would be at what times during the year.
Visited every area of the business spending time with relevant management in order to understand how the overall operation works.
Above 25 days holiday
Very appealing! ALDI are a company that look after their people and appreciate hard work. The opportunities for a successful career and progression are very much real.
The Culture
Communication with other placement students was minimal in the first 6 months due to each person working within a different set of stores with different working patterns. However, once in head office, you work very closely with each other on projects which i personally found enjoyable.
