    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It has been a very enjoyable experience to learn and grow within a corporate environment, but also be able to contribute to the business and leave a positive legacy behind

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Whilst doing many tasks with little assistance, the support was always there from various levels of employee should there be any issues or problems I may have had. This allowed me the room to grow by my own means but also leverage the help of my colleagues when needed

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • In having both an Early Professionals Manager and Task Manager, this meant that there was ample support and guidance provided, and you could always get an answer to any query

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Workload has gradually increased due to taking on more responsibilities and projects as the year has progressed. There have been a fair few late evenings and sometimes weekends where I've had urgent and important work that would be done but not overhelming at all

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Given a good level of responsilibity from the outset, however I took it upon myself that I take on extra responsibility when possible in order to broaden my experience and test myself where possible

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I've learnt and experiences gained are invaluable going forwards, and have provided me with a great foundation of soft and hard skills, as well as a large network, which I can take forward with me as my career progresses

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Being based in Warwick, there's an friendly open environment in which everyone works. A good place to come in and work

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Well organised, key milestones and reviews were made aware to us in good time, and generally there have been no major problems at all

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • IBM Foundation provides plenty of opportunity and guidance on how to build skills, competencies and confidence to the benefit of your career. I also took it upon myself to become immersed in the business I worked for by taking on project/task responsibility where possible

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Sports and Social Club

    Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    Working from home

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Upon completion of my placement year and graduate application, a ranking exercise by Foundation managers will determine my overall performance rating for the year, and based on this number, I will either not have an offer back, have an offer for a specialised intern Assessment Centre, or go straight to final business interview. Having performed well, it would be great to come back as a grad

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was is large Intern community at Warwick, so there was always something being held each week in which the interns came together. It's been great to meet and make so many new friends who I'll stay in contact with after my placement year has finished

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I lived at home for the year as the Warwick office was within 20 miles of my house. So little cost involved apart from our evening get togethers!

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Leamington/Warwick has decent nightlife, with a range of different bars and clubs to go to.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Plenty, too many to note

    5/5
