The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my year long placement at Verizon. I was given great support and many opportunities to develop my knowledge and skills. I felt that it was a friendly and welcoming working environment and I would recommend to anyone looking for a business placement
I felt valued by the rest of my team and the collegues I worked with. I grew strong relationships with my team and throughout the year I was treated like I full time employee - never "just the intern". At Verizon, everyone feels that the interns are extremely valuable and they love to work with us.
My management team were all about helping me learn and develop my skills. My team as well as other employees from all different parts of the business were very willing to help and guide me through projects. I received 121 feedback weekly as well as quarterly reviews to help me meet objects and make significant achievements
The workload in my role would vary day to day but it was always manageable and I never had nothing to do. I was worked on multiple long and short term projects which encouraged me to prioritise and develop my time management skills.
My manager trusted me with many responsibilities which all added value to the organisation. I was also encouraged to show my work to more senior managers, increasing my exposure within the business.
The time I have spent at Verizon has helped me develop personal and professional skills that are really going to help me in the future.
The Company
I recieved a great handover at the beginning of my placement and always had lots of work lines up for me. I felt that the quartley reviews and feedback sessions I recieved from my management were set up well and helped me to set targets to push myself. I also think there is a lot of opportunity for interns to get involved outside their role.
There was a lot of focus on my devlopment from my own management team as well as my HR mentor.

The Culture
Yes, my colleagues held monthly get togethers outside of the office (lunch/ dinner/ evenings out). There is also a great intern community in the office which was great for organising events with friends of a similar age.
I was based in Reading but lived slightly out at my home. Reading centre is a reasonably prices area for socialising.
The centre of Reading has many bars and clubs. There is a large univeristy in Reading so there are many students around as well.
There are many opportunities to take part in activities outside of work/ outside of the role. Such as social events and sporting activites with colleagues.
