The Role
I really enjoyed the placement, the atmosphere was great and people were very friendly and easy to work with.
From the start we were given a project to work on and I felt like a real employee.
My manager and supervisor were always very friendly and patient when I needed them and when I asked questions.
There was always something to do either in the lab or in the office (reports, presentations...)
I worked with my supervisor on a project, he always asked for my opinions and other ideas.
I learnt a lot during these 12 months, first about the language how to speak English properly and also how to write reports/presentations in English. I discovered another area of chemistry that is not taught in Universities.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office was really good, I have felt integrated in the group since the first day. Everyone was friendly, sympathetic and funny.
It was well organised we had always information about the placement, when I had any questions I received an answer within the day. Also a familiarization day was organised so we were able to meet the other students and also our supervisors before the placement.
We had training meetings to learn how to use the software and the applications available on the computers.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Financial Bonus
Above 25 days holiday
I would love to work for Lubrizol if I have the opportunity.
The Culture
There was a very good group of student this year, we always managed to have lunch together. We also organised activities outside of work for example laser tag, cricket games, barbecue, drinks...
The Derby area is a nice place to live, the cost of living was reasonable.
All the students used to go out for drinks and clubs often in Derby and also in Nottingham.
A very good sport and social club at work organised activities, there is weekly football, climbing, badminton etc. And they also organised other activities like bowling, laser tag, ice skating, munro bagging, go karting...
