The Role
The work was at times stimulating but overall there seemed to be a lack of available work to do in the department which was actually challenging.
Most of the senior people were busy and therefore we were supposed to find our own work and get on with it.
If I asked for work, I would occasionally get more work. However, management were always ready to help and they would spend as much time required to help me understand anything.
The internship scheme was not structured well and many interns complained about the lack of work in their respective departments.
Responsibility was given to me towards the end of the internship but overall there was not much responsibility given.
Even though I did not learn any hard technical skills, I have learned the value of communication and team work in large organisations.
The Company
Everyone was busy in their own work. However the office area is really spacious and thus enables you to work more creatively.
Lack of structure and lack of work being prepared inadvance for the interns to work on. This meant that most of the time was spent acting busy rather than actually being busy.
The training that the company gives is very good. As I said earlier, the management is always keen to help and provide any help regarding qualifications or any projects.
Subsidised Canteen
I managed to secure a full time job therefore it can't be too bad!
The Culture
Even though KPMG did not actively organise any socials, there were atleast 1 or 2 events every week that us interns organised.
Canary wharf, therefore ridiculously expensive. However, if you venture out of there, prices drop significantly.
Yet again, Central London so nightlife is amazing if you can afford it.
We had a CSR day all together but I know other departments having sports days and days out.
