About You
I really enjoyed the Discover EY program. It was very insightful and changed my opinion of which service line to apply for Tax or Assurance. The first day was very full on with lots of information to take in. The second was a bit more activity based but due to the room we were in (underground) it felt quite stuffy. Overall, the two days were brilliant and the staff running the program were able to answer all my questions.
As it was only a two day insight program I was involved in the company directly. However, we were treated respectfully by all the current EY staff and made to feel very welcomed.
There was adequate guidance and support when required. There was always a member of staff with us throughout the event to deal with any questions or concerns we had.
Following the insight I have no applied for the assessment centre and will be contenting to pursue a career with EY. The information was very informative and the second day gave many people an insight into their strengths and weakness. I had complete such activities with other companies previously which made it interesting to see other peoples reactions to the activity. With regards to my degree I was only one of a handful of people studying a degree not related to economics/maths/accountancy etc. this surprised a few people, however I felt very comforted by the current employees we met who also had a different degree to the standard ones.
The Company
The insight booklet/presentation was made for the previous group and not updated accordingly for the second insight day. This lead to not knowing the names of a few guest speakers. Other than that, it appeared well structured.
The general atmosphere was slightly apprehensive but positive. Many of the attendees were interesting in pursuing a career at EY making it more interesting. During the second half of the first day there was a lag due to the amount of information. The evening meal was fun but the insight days was much more casual business.
There was EY partners who attended the session which made me feel valued and as though they are interested in their graduates. The only issue was I wanted to apply for the Cambridge office and there was not much insight given into other office apart from London.
The company had many current employees visit us to provide insight into what it would be like to be employed at the firm. There was no typical day described but overall it seemed very positive.
As with most things two days is not enough to gain enough insight to the company culture, however what was explain was a keen interest in the graduate programs and a sense of being looked after by the firm. Although there appeared to be a understanding of long working hours.
I have no continue my application for an EY internship.
Everything Else
This was done promptly by EY.
Yes, during the lunches and dinner.
Again, during the lunches and dinner.
There was little detail about this, apart from internal opportunities to support days such as the insights day. It may have been helpful to see what other opportunities EY encourages outside of the work environment.
Only if they would be interested in apply to such a position, there is a lot of assessments to go through before being selected to attend the insight.
