The Role
My Placement year was enjoyable. I have learnt a lot of new skills and now have a different perspective on careers going back to university. I have been greatly challenged and as a result have grown immensely as a person.
I am fortunate enough to have joined a team that was friendly and approachable. In the beginning, my manager guided me through the tasks and also showed me who to go to for what. I was shortly able to go to different members of my team for information with no hesitation. I was treated equally like all other members and no differently because I was an intern. I was also given praise when I had done a task well which made me feel valuable.
I had a manager who I spoke to on a daily basis and had a review on my placement year with every other week. In addition to this I had an Early Professionals Manager who was there to support me on anything to do with my professional career.
My work load varied from day to day, however the majority of my time spent here I was busy. At times where workload was not as much, I could always find something else to get involved in.
During my placement year, i was given a lot of responsibility and played a great part in the project I was working on. I had Client interaction alone and was able to complete tasks set directly from the Client.
Specific skills I have learnt in depth include excel. Throughout the year I have been instrumental in keeping updates of a spreadsheet and analyzing the data through use of Formulas. Due to being a project manager, I have also learnt valuable skills such as Organization, Communication and Team work.
