The Role
It was a good experience and I learnt a lot about myself but I was in an area that I had no interest in. I was exposed to lots of parts of the business so the people side of the role was a real benefit to the role.
Recognition from my manager was rare and the rest of the team was too busy to notice that I was going above and beyond my role.
I struggled a lot and had to get a mentor to assist me and offer some guidance. I've learnt to take care of myself from this though.
Extremely busy, I work long hours, don't have a lunch hour and it feels like I still don't have enough time in the day. I can't remember the last time that I worked 9-5:30.
I was given a lot of responsibility which was great but I didn't have much support to go with that responsibility which was quite daunting at first.
I have gained confidence both in personality and in my abilities so I believe I will participate far more in my final year. I think the main thing for me has been the networking that I have done this year, I've made a lot of contacts that I hope to be able to call upon in the future.
The Company
I'm surrounded by a lovely department but it is very serious, most people have their head down for most of the day and just get on with their work.
The induction process was not great but the team were prepared to help me get stuck in from day one.
You have access to lots of training courses which is great but they aren't publicised enough. It was only because I was persistent that I got booked on to lots of courses.

I wouldn't consider coming back on the graduate scheme but I wouldn't rule it out as an option a few years down the line in a permanent position.
The Culture
There was during the week but at the weekend, there wasn't much to do in the area so we all went to visit friends or family.
It is extremely expensive, for the salary we received, you really struggled to pay the bills each month, never mind save anything!
This is something that the area really hasn't got right, it's terrible!
I think there is an option to get subsidised tickets to sporting events and play football but that's about it!
