The Role
The team of interns and extended team were all welcoming and friendly, I really enjoyed the work environment and working with my colleagues.
You are instantly valued as a regular member of the team and rarely does the fact you are an intern even get mentioned
My managers were all very helpful in guiding me through the early stages of my internship, unfortunately my predecessor had already left when I joined so I had no direct handover period.
The nature of my role meant very variable workloads, sometimes extended periods of heavier work and other fallow periods where it was quieter, but always enough to be getting on with
My role was essential to the program I worked on, often being given a say in decisions made and much of my work drove these decisions as well as being a global focal point for thousands of IBM Business Partners.
I have definitely grown hugely in my technical skills although much of it was very IBM focused so may not be hugely practical. However I am now an expert in Excel which will be very useful in the future.
The Company
A professional environment was well balanced with a large group of interns and flexible management to allow a great atmosphere to develop
The IBM Foundation team are excellent at organising the entire process however the fact I didn't have a handover period with my predecessor made the initial stages of my job more difficult than it needed to be.
There wasn't much compulsory education but the opportunities to explore were almost endless and very well promoted internally.

The Culture
Our location had thirty interns and we were introduced to each other before we started, allowing some of us to set up living arrangements with each other. As a rule we all got on very well and the social scene was vibrant.
London prices ...
Near work the nightlife was poor at best, but easy access into central London kept options open
IBM Club allows plenty of opportunities for extra activities, I joined the work football team for example.
