The Role
The work was definately interesting, and it was good to have two rotations to experience different areas of the bank. The only downside was the limited interaction amongnst one of the teams I was placed in - would have been nice if everyone was a little more approachable.
Refer to the above comment - with the first team, because there were lots of analysts seated next to me, it felt more friendly an informal than in my second team. Perhaps making sure interns sit next to first year analyst would make them feel more comfortable.
Always felt supported - everything was explained well
Again, it was nice that both desks were busy and there was work to do
First team gave a lot of responsibilty, because it was very busy. Second team wasn't as busy and therefore not huge amounts of responsibility, but it was still enough to get a good idea of the projects I was helping with
Want to pursue studies in Finance, and therefore found the experience incredibly useful
The Company
Everyone seemed freindly - very different atmosphere in the two teams, DCM is much more engaging in my opinion, but everyone in the Sector teams were equally as nice.
It was nice that my preferences were taken into account when allocating the rotations, but felt that teams could have had better information about when interns were coming and the events that occured - sometimes was the case that Line managers were not aware of what was going on (e.g. MD shadowing).
The training was definately more than I expected, and it was comforting to know how to use Bloomberg/Factset before arriving on the desk
Subsidised Canteen
Very friendly so definatley very high on list of considerations
The Culture
Yes all the interns very equally as friendly, maybe more events across the whole bank as opposed to just Banking would have allowed better socialising.
Liverpool street is expensive, but this was expected
Again expensive, but safe and very different to university!
Yes there were, unfortunatley due to my working hours though I was not able to attend all these events.
