The Role
Great diversity amongst the team who provided a great support network at all times throughout the year
The support you get from your manager really depends on what you want. You need to be proactive and make sure you have plenty of 1:1 sessions throughout the month to ensure that you have the best opportunity to learn and develop
You make your own day. It completely depends on the time of the year, it might be quite during your first few weeks as you get to grips with the business but after Christmas its full-on a standard 8:30 - 6 working day
More than I ever could of imagined. You are really thrown in at the deep end with certain projects but I found that helpful in hindsight.
I learnt more in my placement year than in 2 years at University. The skills I have developed over this year will be carried forward into my final year and although it won't be a 'breeze' it will certainly be easier than previously to this year
The Company
It really depends on the team that your in. The general feel was relaxed but again it depends on the time of the year. As you draw towards the end of the Fiscal Year it can get quite busy and people don't have a lot of free time
There was definitely a structure to the year but it wasn't always seamless. There could have been more of a focus on developing key employable skills
There were a great deal of sessions throughout the year. I found my 1:1 mentoring sessions with people from my team the most helpful as you can put in an hour or so each week to really dive into what you want to get out the year.

Very, Microsoft is a great company to work for and takes a clear interest in the development of its employees
The Culture
Yes, one of the best things about the year was the intern community - there was over 100 interns and being able to reach out to them at any point was really valuable. The social side was great aswell and we all often went out into London or Reading
£400 rent a month was average
