The Role
I enjoyed my placement so so much! This year has been truly invaluable, and the opportunities Microsoft has provided me with have allowed me to grow personally and professionally.
A huge value and focus of Microsoft is its aspect of respect and equality - ensuring that everyone is treated equally and appreciated. Even though I was an intern, I was extremely valued and appreciated by all my colleagues. They see the value in good work you do, and are happy to recognize and remember you for this.
I know that if I ever had an issue I knew who I could speak to. My manager was always there to support me and the wider university staffing team were always available. I switched manager halfway through the year which was quite challenging. I wish I could have gotten some more guidance at that time (which is why I give this a 6).
Perfect amount of business! There were weeks busier than others but I think it was a good balance & I was able to get involved in extra actvities as well.
Lots of responsiblity & really got a sense of trust that I would do a good job.
Built on and learned new transferable skills applicable at any time.
The Company
Respectful, open, friendly. There was a business-vibe but not to the extent that I was always feeling stressed. Everyone is very open and I was able to ask anyone any question without hesitation.
Fantastic guidance, ability to get involved in things beyond your role, shadowing, learn about different areas of the business. Great intern community!
Personal training and development was mainly left up to you - there wasn't much training directly provided for us.

Having worked here has shown me how great it is & my ideal future career would be in Microsoft!
The Culture
Because there were so many interns it was really like a community who all supported & hung out with each other,
Good & not too expensive. Good location because close to London but no crazy London prices in Reading!
University town so good nightlife.
Could get involved in anything I wanted as long as I was managing my role and time!
