The Role
A wide range of tasks to be involved with. Also had a couple of ongoing projects to do. The team were very supportive and the intern programme was structured really well with additional out of hours events.
The team were extremely welcoming and ansered all of my questions and helped me to develope my understanding.
The advice given and feedback from work was oustanding. All members of the team were really generous with their time and helped me to develope my skills further and build on previous work. Responsability was given to me at an early stage and carefully monitored.
There was a good range of tasks to complete. Some were long term projects whilst others were very short data related tasks. There was a good balance and the team were happy to help if any problems cropped up.
The team allowed me to have a go at everything but the ultimate decisions were made by the more senior members. I was however given a good level of managable yet challenging responsibilty early on so that I could prove my self and develope my skills further.
the insight into the commercial world has been invaluable and is incredibly useful not just for work but also for life in general.
The Company
There was a serious job to be done and the team worked efficently. The atmosphere was welcoming and friendly but still very much focused on working well and achieving.
There was a good structure in place and you knew exactly who to contact in order to sort any problems out. There was a lot of information given out prior to the internship and you were constantly kept up to date throughout the internship. There were also lunch time learning sessions set up and after hours networking and social opertunities.
RBS put a lot into the internship and I have really enjoyed it. The firm has a global presence and good communication amougst the different teams.
You are given responsability early and given a great chance to challenge yourself and prove yourself in the work place. There is also a good support structure in place.
The Culture
The other interns were are welcoming and there were many extra social events organised. Great fun!
Accomodation was expensive but easily covered by the pay.
The night life was ok but the location was central so it was easy to travel out to other local areas aswell. Just a quick trip on the tube!
We participated in a charity day early on but after that opportunities became more scarce. It may have made the work hours less appealing however if there were more after work activities so I see this as a good thing.
