The Role
I have very much enjoyed my responsibility, although it becomes what you make of it. I asked for a lot of responsibility and was given trust to finish large projects on my own, so now I'm hired as a marketing manager!
A lot, my team were helpful, and as they asked in the beginning of the year for what I wanted out of my time at Microsoft, they kept checking up on me and pushing me to reach my goals.
100% support from my manager and the wider team. We kept having checkups and he made sure I was happy with my time and experiences from here. He also assigned me a graduate scheme employee to be my mentor, so we have been meeting monthly to work on where I want to go next in my career.
Very busy, but I learnt how to manage my time just like the others in the team. As I am one of the younger employees, whilst many I worked with had families, there was a pretty relaxed home/work time scheduling. I could come in later and finish later as it suited me, although I know this varies depending on Microsoft department. Flexible working was very much promoted as long as I get my job done.
All that I wished for, as soon as I felt bored by any tasks I could easily raise this with my manager and get tasks with bigger responsibility and impact, which was really important for me.
I presented to all the marketing managers and presented what direction I thought we should be going on a monthly basis. Scary, but very confidence building! Further skills were obviously working with several teams, stakeholders and with targets to reach under pressure.
The Company
Great, people love chatting but also let you work if you're busy.
Well, first week I had to change departments but the HR team did what they could to make sure I ended up in a role fit for me.
The HR team have been fantastic with off-site where I can see other interns, but further the marketing department have gone through an organisational change during my time here so I've been included in a lot of 'modern marketing training' as part of the team.

Great, you can climb as far as you want and change inbetween departments, there are lots of ways to network for new job roles in different countries.
The Culture
Yepp, the 101 teams (which are like societies) ensure we meet weekly.
I lived in an expensive part of London, and had to travel to Reading, but otherwise I had some money to see friends. If you know beforehand where you will be stationed, get a place close to work and with other interns.
Reading is good for those who live here but I lived in London so it had everything I could ask for. The London office go for more casual after work drinks, if you are in to that.
Yes, a lot, volunteering days (which whatever money you gather gets doubled/matched by Microsoft), and the 101 teams where you get to do different things than your usual role.
