About You
I was given a range of tasks to do which kept my interest throughout. Everyone at the firm was friendly and welcoming. There were times when I didn't really have anything to do, but I understand that is often the nature of 1-week placements.
I was made to feel welcome but there is only so much importance a firm can place on a vacation scheme student.
I was given work on which I was supervised and generally given clear instructions, guidance, and constructive feedback.
Not so much the skills I have developed, but the insight into the firm and the area in which I worked have been very valuable.
The Company
We had a clear timetable which incorporated a number of activities and a range of events.
It was friendly and supportive, and I always felt like I could approach people to ask questions or for assistance.
I was given a range of tasks but there is only so much a firm can invest in you in the space of a week.
I was given work by a number of people including trainees (of which I would be one if I joined the firm) which helped me see what working at the firm would be like.
I spoke to a number of people about the culture of the firm which helped give me a good understanding, as well as being involved in a social event with current trainees.
Very valuable, I got to see the type of work undertaken by trainees and solicitors in my department and got to see the type of workload involved.
Everything Else
I was paid.
Yes there were a couple of events involving employees of the firm.
They were enjoyable and allowed us to speak both formally and informally with current employees.
Yes from speaking to current employees.
Yes, it was an enjoyable experience and gave me a great insight into the firm and how it works.
