About You
It was the best decision of my life. The place is awesome and so are the people who work there... I got to learn from the best engineers and now I think that I found my dream company. I totally recommend doing any sort of working scheme with them, as you will learn a lot and it will help with your resume in the future
As much as I would like to say I was considered essential I have got to be honest... There are hundreds of employees, and my responsibilities weren't much. But, I still felt wanted there and in my opinion that is what matters in the end of the day. And, they had amazing projects in which I helped them with.
They did everything they could to help me with the process, there were many people whom I could talk to in case of some kind of problem. Also, I had 2-4 meetings every week to discuss how the projects were going and what was the preferred direction in each situation analyzing the pros and cons.
I got to apply in practice much of the stuff I have learned in my classes. Also, the reputation of the company will sure have a positive effect on my resume in the future and I hope that all the different skills I have learned during this internship will be worth it in the near future.
The Company
Rolls Royce is a huge company that has a lot of money to invest in their structure, so during my insight they gave me every tool I could have possibly imagined to succeed and the projects that I worked on were directly related to my field of study. They made very clear from the start what they expected of me and what I had to do in order to succeed.
The best possible atmosphere, everyone I talked to either was really nice or really polite. Even my direct superiors had much respect and kindness in every word they said to me during the insight. I think the only bad thing I could say about the atmosphere is that it was a very serious working environment, as it was expected...
They had a lot of training in all areas, from technical stuff to personal improvements such as seminaries, lectures, dynamics, and more on... I think they spent more than any other company would considering it was just an insight.
It did give me a clear view of how the company works and what is expected of its workers. I had a similar task to a regular employee but with less responsibilities and often the tasks were just case studies
It gave a clear view on what they stand for, how important is their working ethic, and more than that it helped me construct a better image of them. I hope in the future I can go back working there since it is an amazing company with great ethics and values.
They helped me see what each sector of the company is responsible for and then helped me decide what was the best fit for my qualities. After the insight I had enough information about the different roles an materials engineer can assume inside their company and I tried a bit of every single one of them.
Everything Else
They paid me a regular amount that was supposed to be enough for both my expenses and an amount that I considered as a "working salary" even though they never used these exactly words... It was plenty, I did not think it was by any mean little.
From the beginning they praised that this insight was an opening door to the company and depending on our actions we would qualify or not to work there. At all time there were a lot of employees who helped us and we could that to. Making it really simple to do some networking with them.
They had plenty of events that involved all the employees and we could have a chat with them discussing about the work and getting to know each other. In the end, those coffees were all about integrating the students with the workers in order to developed some bonds that can be considered networking in my opinion.
They didn't talk at all about those activities, but I think it was just because my insight wasn't that long and I had to return to my university soon. But, I think I heard about some events that were run by the company and we could be a part of if we wanted to.
Yes, I would definitely recommend this to a friend. A part from being an excellent company they helped me see my future with different eyes. This is the first step to a glorious career inside Rolls Royce! They will help you every step of the way giving you tips and advices.
