The Role
I had a very positive experience working at IBM. I created a great network and gained exposure to a global organisation. The whole experience has pushed me to develop my skills.
I was given a range of important responsibilities. I received praise for completing the tasks which in turn made me feel valued by my colleagues.
My manager was focused on my personal development and allowed me to undertake a range of opportunities to make the most of my experience at IBM. I received continued support from my Early Professionals Manager both through the formal review process (3 month, 6 month and final presentation) but also sharing opportunities with me that she thought I could benefit from during my placement year.
After the first couple of weeks I was busy on a daily basis. This increased during bid work and working to client deadlines.
I was given a large amount of responsibility and expose as my manager led a team which span across Europe, therefore, I undertook a range of tasks with different people for the industry.
I will apply many of the skills I developed on my placement year in my final year of study, in particular time management, communication skills and problem solving. I received training as part of the intern Foundation community which I will take forward to my future roles in business.
The Company
More of a corporate atmosphere in the Southbank Office.
Very well organised from 2 day inductions to training throughout the year and formal review process to ensure I was reaching the goals the organisation had set and I had set for myself.
Many of my team members invested a lot of time in me to enable me to yield the best results from my work.

Working from home
The graduate scheme is fantastic - I have applied back to be a Business Consultant at IBM.
The Culture
Yes, especially in the Southbank office where there are approx 100 students.
Accommodation is very expensive in London.
There are so many bars and restaurants on Southbank that we often went to after work.
