The Role
I have rated a 5 due to the mixed emotions that I had throughout my internship! I have made some amazing friends and gained valuable experience that I don't think I would have got at any other company. I have also realised my passion for working within the beauty industry. However - throughout my time I was treated badly by senior management that I did not work with directly and despite my manager informing numerous General Managers and HR about this, nothing was resolved! But despite this, I think that I have come out a stronger person and know how to deal with 'difficult' people.
Despite higher management not showing appreciation for my hard work, my close team were amazing to work with and really appreciated my hard work and all of the extra hours that I worked!
My manager gave me some amazing support and guidance throughout my placement, and I think that we will be friends for life. However - due to the high workload at L'Oreal, sometimes she would be too busy to help me, but did always try to make time!
Extremely busy as I was the only person working on one brand!
I was given the opportunity to run the marketing of a brand alone! Despite this being extremely high pressure as an intern, I have learnt so much from the experience and was to 'go-to' person for everything on the brand.
As I was left to look after a brand on my own - I feel like I have the skills to run my own business. I dealt with logistics, marketing and national accounts all in one role!
The Company
Sometimes the team would be down when they felt swamped with work, however we were all extremely close and always managed to have fun no matter what the situation!
I didn't have a manager for the first 2 months and no guidance.
The beauty of L'Oreal placements are that it is more of a 'chuck you in the deep end' approach, despite not getting a lot of 'training', because I had to get on with things I picked more things up than I think I would have with training.
Sports and Social Club
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
I didn't personally chose to go for the grad scheme because I found the company quite unorganised which is not how I like to work and thought that the management style wasn't great. However I loved working within the beauty industry, but would prefer to work somewhere that I could be more creative as my role was very heavily focused on logistics!
The Culture
Yes - plenty of socials!
Expensive but socials were free most of the time!
We would go elsewhere - Chelsea etc
Yes, we had team nights out and intern socials.
