    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • From day 1 I was immersed in to in-flight business projects that had an associated business case and budget. The level of responsibility given to the undergraduates, far exceeded my expectation and after the first couple of months had passed, I felt like a permanent member of staff. The time has absolutely flown by, simply because I have enjoyed it that much - I don't want to leave!

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • There have been many opportunities to deliver value and present new ideas for consideration. This is encouraged and acted upon, so I always felt valued.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Having a supportive manager is everything, my line manager was fantastic - I couldn't ask for anyone else, the year wouldn't have been the same!

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Learning to manage your time effectively is key in any role/company, however I found myself often wanting to prove myself and working unsociable hours / weekends. This can be easily resolved by utilising your calendar and work pipeline to ensure your manager can provide the support you need. I found myself realising this very quickly - and also attended a few internal courses to help in this area.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I definitely wasn't running the show, but the calibre of the undergraduates this year has been amazing. I think there is a general opinion that people LOVE working for the company and would come back without hesitation. The reason for this is simple, we are trusted. We are given responsibilities and the support required to deliver - as long as you keep hitting the mark, you will always be involved in something exciting.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • During my time at VWG UK, I became PRINCE2 & AgilePM certified - supported fully by the company. I was also exposed to several internal courses, more around improving the softer, transferable skills.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The beauty of working for VWG UK is that you are essentially working for 5 big brands. The atmosphere changes between offices and there is definitely an environment that will suit all. Walking through Audi, you feel the high-intensity rushing through the office, associated with a premium brand. In contrast, strolling through Group Aftersales you notice the passion of the people, looking after a loyal customer base. I mean, we don't have a slide leading to our restaurant, but there are hundreds of new cars to admire, if that's your thing.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The overall structure works well, however I feel it is in the hands of your line manager to ensure your experience is a beneficial one.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I don't want to think about how much the company has spent on me, but it is most definitely appreciated. I feel like I am ready to take on more challenging tasks, and have a lot more confidence than I did at the start of the year.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

    Company Car

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    National Travel

    Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    Above 25 days holiday

    Working from home

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • There is an opportunity to be 'fast-tracked' to the Graduate Assessment Centres. I feel that more could be done to value the existing talent and ensure they want to stay on-board.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • It's there if you want it...

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Milton Keynes is vibrant area, that seems to be forever developing. Costs are probably slightly higher than average, but there is no shortage of living space & things to do,

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There are a few nice spots, but if you're from a city with a big nightlife, you may want to take the occasional trip home!

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • You can get involved in sporting & charitable activities if you desire.

    3/5
