The Role
I enjoyed my placement at Atos. The work was challenging, but provided ample opportunities to observe and understand how organisations operate within different industries. The team of individuals I worked with were exceptional, providing support when needed and making sure I was exposed to as much as possible, creating a great environment to work in.
I felt extremely valued by my colleagues. Feedback was given regularly by team leaders on ways to improve, and any comments and suggestions for improvements were always welcomed. Any contributions made were always considered, and praise was given where due - occasionally getting a rewarded/bonuses for playing a crucial role on projects.
Useful training and resources were provided when joining, accompanied with continuous on the job training to consistently develop skills. Line managers were always available to help when stuck or unsure what to do, and always ensured that you’re comfortable and confident in what you do before assigning you to any projects.
Throughout the year there were busy periods and quite periods, the busy periods being extremely busy, either spending a lot of time travelling, or wrapping up projects. However, the quite periods like the summer period opened up opportunities to be involved in other jobs which proved to be enjoyable and a good experience. So I'd say the balance of workload was pretty good.
You are treated the same as any other employee, from the start you are held responsible for completing key areas of projects and held accountable for the results. Within the first 3 months you are reviewed on your efforts and results, successfully passing the review stage you are entrusted to work with real clients and complete various meetings, testing, and write ups.
The placement provided me with the experience to match theory to practice, but also improve my employability skills. Working with different teams and groups of people required great organisation and time management skills, which will also assist me during the final year of my study. Working with these teams it’s important to learn and adapt communication to various groups and people, as some might not understand technical jargon.
The Company
The office has an open-plan arrangement with hot desks seating. Allowing for a more sociable and relaxed working atmosphere in the office, giving the opportunity to move around and meet different people. The breakout area contained large space with sofas and free coffee machines allowing for a great space to have lunch breaks with the other colleagues.
My placement was very well organised, prior to joining I had been contacted and given the details of my placement ‘buddy’, who was my first point of contact for any issues. I was then given an official induction which included presentations and office tour, which allowed for better integration with the people I’d be working with.
Atos invested a lot of time training and providing resources for my personal development, all paid for by them. I feel extremely valued as a result of all the time and effort put into me by them, through all the formal training and onwards to on-the job development, which will definitely be useful to me in the future.

Atos provides a lot of great opportunities, and due to my placement year I am very fortunate to have the opportunity to re-join following my degree and work for them. The progression within is very good and so are the benefits, which is great as Atos is an establish company and I’d be happy to come back.
The Culture
There were a few interns and graduates when I joined across different service lines who were more than happy to meet for social events, leading good social scene inside and outside of work. Just wish there was more of them with managers.
It was very expensive. The office is based in central London so can be quite expensive in terms of living cost and socializing, especially if you often go to lunches with clients and colleges.
London being the cultural and financial hub it is, means there is an endless amount on offer. From restaurants, bars, clubs to world class attractions such as the shard, and regents park (only a few minutes away from the office, great place to visit on lunch break)
There were a lot of opportunities for activities, but unfortunately I was a bit too busy travelling. But from what others have mentioned at the office there are a lot of sports clubs, and football tournaments that anybody can join.
