The Role
I really enjoyed my internship. The best part was the level of training and development put in to all interns. It was my first job in a professional environment and the opportunities to progress were apparent right from the first weeks. Another positive was working in an environment that actively promotes a meritocratic culture and it was goo to hear stories about people working their way up. My manager in particular was excellent and provided a lot of time in developing me as a consultant.
After the initial 3 months it feels as though you become a regular consultant. You are given responsibilities and autonomy, you are given the tools to learn, but the opportunity to build a business around you. The iincentives were excellent and showed how much the business valued its interns.
My manger was excellent, probably the best thing about the internship. Right from the first week, I was taken on meetings with clients and candidates. I was given extra responsibilities and always felt as though I was adding value. The overall director for Financial markets was great, clearly very busy but always gave every consultant the time of day - setting a good example for young people especially interns.
Luckily enough I was placed on a busy desk, whereby we always had jobs to work and good relationships to continue to grow the business. I was involved in the full 360 process, from sourcing candidates to developing candidates. Working on a busy desk was excellent, it meant that I had to learn quick and get up to speed. I am also someone that enjoys being put under pressure, so working being busy always helped.
Right from the offset I was given a great deal of responsibility, form mapping out key clients to recording fees and doing a weekly job scrape. Being on busy desk, the responsibility came with that. in comparison to other internships you are actively encouraged to take on more responsibility. Something I enjoyed throughout.
The key skills I have learnt throughout were time management, communication, organisational and being able to be confident in front of senior stakeholders. Now that I'm going back to university, I will be able to effectively manage my time throughout my studies. When presenting I will be able to speak with confidence and overall be a more organised student and be prepared for life after university.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office was great, a friendly environment with loads of talented people to learn from.
It was excellent, the training was unparrelled, right from the first week we knew exactly what was expected from us.
Not just my manager but a number of different people within the business lead training session, resulting in increased knowledge.
Financial Bonus
I would definitely consider returning - great experience all round.
The Culture
In recruitment the social scene is always good. A lot of memorable nights with a good group of people.
In London, the cost of living is crazy. However you have to realise it is only for a year and you learn how to budget your money.
Very good, It's London.
Yes, football tournaments, nights out at laser quest and a range of fun activities.
