The Role
It's been a really enjoyable year. You have to be prepared to put the hours in and be flexible during busy periods but overall I've learnt loads, been given my own projects and responsibilities and been lucky enough to work with some really inspirational people.
Generally teams are quite big and you have to be prepared to speak up or get left behind. I've always had a great team around me and they've inspired me to push myself and supported me in my projects and ideas.
I think this very much depends on who your manager is rather than the company as a whole. When I joined the business I had an amazing manager who was inspirational and so so supportive. People move around a lot so your manager can change often but you soon learn how to adapt.
L'Oreal is renowned for being a super busy business and nothing ever really stands still. There are times when you have a crazy long list but without that you wouldn't get such a good insight to the business.
Loads, I had my own projects throughout the year and ran social media from day one. At some points I was the only person working on the brand- you're definitely valued as a team member rather than just an intern.
I've learnt more this year than my whole time at uni. It will be really good to go back and be able to relate the theory to my experiences this year.
The Company
Sometimes very stressful but everyone is young so it's quite laid back and fun.
Really well organised with lots of mixers and inductions to help you hit the ground running. The HR team are great and really supportive if you need any help.
We had access to a whole host of e-learning programs which I used extensively. There are software training sessions that you can attend if you want to learn more.

The grad scheme application process is quite long but done towards the end of your placement so you find out on your last day if you'll be able to come back or not. The grad scheme is a great opportunity though with the chance to rotate around the business.
The Culture
A really good social scene between the interns thanks to the intern committee. Team nights don't happen very often but when they do they're great fun!
Super expensive, but you can get cheaper accommodation further out and our intern committee were great at securing good drinks deals. Outside of work, west London is quite expensive.
There are only one or two bars and pubs in Hammersmith, but Fulham, Putney and Clapham aren't too far and they're great fun and a little cheaper.
