The Role
I thorougly enjoyed my internship at SAP. A key positive aspect about the SAP internship is the community amongst the interns. Moving away from home and uni to work for 13 months can be quite daunting however, with over 30 other interns on the internship, there are many social events and it makes the year a lot easier having the support of your peers.
I feel valued by my colleagues. I am often invited to team meetings and off sites. The culture at SAP is a very collaborative environment, where each team spends their time in the office together. It can be difficult when working for a sales organisation as an intern as a lot of your colleuges will not be in the office. However I have had constant communication with my manager and work with him on a daily basis.
On the whole the support was not there. Sales teams generally have one thing on their mind and are less concerned about actively seeking to support others. If I felt I generally needed support, and asked for it, I have no doubt that some version of guidance would be given to me.
On a daily basis my workload was fairly comfortable however there were periods where my workload was tough to handle. In general SAP is fast paced and high pressured work environment, therefore that naturally is mirrored into the intern role, especially in a sales role. It is essential to priortise your tasks well as many will be immediate tasks and high priority, therefore when I was able to manage my time well, my workload seemed a lot lighter. Having a high workload has definitely improved my work ethic.
I was given a high level of responsability during my replacement. In general I have supported my manager and the team, which is an entire business for the UK therefore I was given a lot of responsability during my placement. Having said that, there are a lot of limitations to what an intern can do in such a large organisation.
Working in such a large organisation I have gained a range of skills that will not necessarily help me in my degree studies but will when I apply for graduate jobs. I have more commercial awareness and have gained the business skills and confidence to help me in interviews and my work life in the future.

Not appealing. There is no official graduate scheme, however there is something called the sales academy that recruits early talent to train in California, USA for a sales role at SAP. If you are interested in software sales then this is a great window into a career. There are no other real opportunities for future employement at SAP.
The Culture
There was a great social scene amongst other interns. At the start there were many social events and parties for everyone to get to know each other. The first month is onboarding with both interns new and old, therefore there are a lot of social events held. Other events include the SAP Christmas party, this was by far the biggest event of the year.
SAP was based working very close to London the price of socialising was quite expensive. The living costs were quite expensive ranging from 450 to 600 a month. There isnt really much to do in Feltham and therefore many work events are held in Richmond which is not far from the office.
There is an SAP football team. We play every Wednesday afterwork and it is a great chance to network with other employees and get some excersise. At the end of the year the team flies out to Germany, Frankfurt to particiapte in the SAP World Cup. The journey is all paid for by SAP which is great bonus.
