About You
The Insight was definitely what it says on the tin - an invaluable insight into the world of commercial law! To observe the daily business of such a huge firm has confirmed that this is what I want to do in the future!
From day one, I was made to feel so welcome. Every piece of work that I submitted was appreciated and valued. The dynamic culture of the firm was defintiely portrayed during my placement.
Every member of my team were extremely down to earth and open to any queries I had. I did not once feel apprehensive to ask any 'silly questions'. Feedback was given on all of my work and any constructive criticism I received, I was sure to take on board.
I was lucky enough to immerse myself in some free-hand drafting which put some of my degree knowledge to good use. Additionally, I learned a lot of new content and that one of the most required qualities of a solicitor is attention to detail.
The Company
The insight was very well structured, with many opportunities throughout. There were lots of chances for all of the summer vacation scheme students to get together and everything was planned down to a tee.
Friendly, welcoming and hard-working! The culture of the firm was very appealing to me and the general ambience was a contributory factor.
Everything Else
One thing I noticed was thatthere was a very tight trainee bond within the firm. The trainees do a lot of social gatherings together. Additionally, there are many networking events with clients and secondment opportunities.
CMS Cameron McKenna is very big on the Corporate Social Responsibility side of things, so it was interesting too see what sort of things employees engaged in to support their chosen charity, War Child. From Pay Day Sweets, to CMS World Cup, the opportunities sound endless.
