About You
It has been a fantastic experience. It was my first work experience of this kind and at this level. It was a great opportunity that I seized with two hands and got a lot of help and support from my team. I got on with everyone really well and have definitely made friends here. It's a terrific insight to a tremendous law firm that has truly set the bar high.
I felt like I was given a great opportunity to show my skills, and they were keen to give me exciting and challenging work from the outset.
My trainee mentor was a great help, and made me feel comfortable and relaxed in the early days. I was also able to go to the rest of my team for help, as well as trainees in other departments. I had several sit-down conversations with people in different departments, which allowed me to get a far greater insight to the work the firm does.
I learned a great number of skills, both socially and professionally. I had to meet a great deal of people in a short space of time, as well as listen to instructions carefully and carry out the job successfully.
The Company
Very well strcutured. It was very easy to understand my chain of command, from my mentor to the partners in my team. We all knew what we had to do and had a plan for the entire placement. There was never any confusion regarding places we needed to be or when our assessments had to be done.
A very friendly atmosphere in which I got on with everyone I met. All of the Banking team were great to me, as were the lawyers in other teams that I asked for help and advice. Everyone was really willing to help me learn and better myself. It is a real team atmosphere here and everyone really enjoys working here.
I was allowed to get involved in a lot of phonecalls or meetings, in order to best understand how deals are done. I also got to attend two training meetings in quite a short placement.
I spoke to a lot of people who have full time jobs here and they have totally sold the firm to me. I can imagine life as a trainee inside out now after quizzing them everyday for the past two weeks.
