The Role
I have thoroughly enjoyed my placement role and have had a highly positive experience at Faurecia.
I have always felt valued by my colleagues throughout my placement year and have been given a large scope of responsibility. As a business Faurecia strives for continuous improvement and is constantly wanting fresh ideas from employees to adopt within the business. Through this even as a placement student Managers truly appreciate fresh ideas. During my placement I have been able to adopt a lot of new ideas to the student recruitment process something which my colleagues appreciate and recognise as a good improvement to the process.
Although in my role I am required to be autonomous and accountable for my work, the team are always on hand to help me when I need guidance.
I had a perfect work load balance during placement. My projects were fairly cyclical and therefore I experienced times which were extremely busy and other times which werent as busy. Personally, I prefer to be as busy as possible at work and therefore I really enjoyed my workload.
One aspect of my role involved being the coordinator for the entire student recruitment process. This was a great level of responsibility however something which has provided me with great experience and exposure to HR. At first I was slightly daunted by the task of recruiting 32 students across the UK however I quickly realised that I was more than capable of doing this with the support of the team.
The tasks that I have been involved in will be extremely beneficial when completing final year as I have gained exposure to a vast array of HR topics. Most noteably however my personal skills have developed threefold. I now feel confident in my abilities, am able to present to large audiences and have gained team working and communication skills just to name a few.
The Company
The general atmosphere is great. Everyone is really busy as automotive is very fast paced however I get on well with everyone in the office.
At the start of the placement there is a student induction at Leamington Spa which is a great way to integrate everyone into the business and network with colleagues and students at other sites.
The majority of training will be on the job which is really beneficial when in the role as everything is so fast paced it's better to get stuck in and learn straight away.

Faurecia offer an international graduate scheme which is incredibly appealing to me. This year Faurecia are also looking to launch a UK Graduate scheme.
The Culture
There are over 30 students within the business in the UK therefore there are a lot of students at eavh site which is great for socialising.
As I am based at the Washington site in the North East the cost of living is relatively cheap. I would recommend commuting from Newcastle.
Newcastle is only 20 minutes away and arguably one of the best nights out in the UK
It depends on which role you have as to what activities you will be involved in outside of work. There are often activities happening around the sites.
