The Role
It was a really great experience. Intel is a big company and they have a lot of procedures in place that are normally not a priority when working on a individual project for example. One of the key things that I can take away from my time here is the importance of testing properly.
I immediately felt part of the team from the beginning and was treated as an equal member, which was good from my perspective as it allowed me to be more open about the issues that I was facing in my work.
I had a lot of support, especially at the beginning until I got used to the systems in place. The team would be there to help if I had issues that were within their area of expertise
Usually there was always something to do, but it varied by what the goal for that particular period was, as some days were busier that others.
To start with I was working on things that had to be done but were not needing knowledge about how the system worked. After I was a bit more familiar with it I started picking up tasks as every other teammate did.
It will certainly be helpful towards my career as I have learned a few new things in term of technology, but more importantly in terms of teamwork and management.
The Company
It was quite relaxed as people would take a break and chat or go for some beverages.
The team was quite organised internally. As a newcomer I had a bit of trouble with things that were not documented but got over them with the help that I got.
I had some mandatory training to do with the company and it's policies.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Healthcare/Dental
I haven't researched that option at this time
The Culture
There were other interns at the time with which I would occasionally have a chat.
The living costs were quite high for the area, but considering the comparison with London they were ok.
There was some Nightlife, but not really much.
There were some, but Aylesbury is quite small so you can't really expect a lot.
