The Role
The company is such a fast paced environment, trying to keep up with everything can be challenging. It is not an easy placement and you need to give 100% to be successful.
My colleagues made me feel part of the team instantly and were always friendly and helpful, I got to experience working in 3 different teams and enjoyed every single one.
I had a few different managers which was difficult at times as they did not always know where to pick up. However, this is not the norm in the organisation and the managers are always supportive and happy to help with progression.
It is a bit of a mixture, no day will ever be the same. Some weeks I was extremely busy and others I didn't have a lot to do. Overall, it was a pretty equal balance and there will always be something you can do, you just have to find it.
I was given a great amount of responsibility, I was running 2 assessment centres per week on my own and had a lot of temporary workers to manage. I was also given the responsibility of compliance and asked to train others on this process.
I have gained numerous skills while working at Hays which will definitely make a difference to my final year at university. They are skills that I will continue to work on for life and will assist me in finding employment after university.
The Company
There is a work hard play hard culture within Hays. If consultants work hard, they are rewarded.
Financial Bonus
During your placement, if you prove you are willing to give 100% and show signs of success, the company would more than likely offer you a position. I have stayed on longer than my original placement contract which I have enjoyed.
The Culture
Our office was in the centre of Edinburgh so the cost of socialising can be pretty expensive.
Hays participate in a lot of charity work so there were usually quizzes or auctions to attend. Mostly every Friday the office will go out after work also.
