The Role
I have really enjoyed my year at GE. A challenging yet valuable experience.
Everybody within the business was always very supportive of all the interns including myself and always provided help when I required it. I was given lots of responsibility and felt valued when given credit for completion of my tasks and projects.
My line manager was always there to support me on both a day to day and project basis. I was also given a mentor for any further guidance during our once a month meetings.
I was always busy during my time at GE. I had a good combination of daily tasks and responsibilities but on top of that I had to manage my time to complete a variety of different projects on top of this work.
I was given lots of responsibility from day one. Including running a daily critical meeting in front of senior colleagues, running the implementation of the new computer based system and being heavily involved with the daily running of the business.
Yes. I have learnt and developed both new skills and existing skills I had gained from my first two years at university. The skills I have learnt are invaluable to both my final year at university and my working career thereafter.
The Company
Good supportive atmosphere.
The placement was very well organised and setup.
The company gave me opportunities to develop by putting me in positions of leadership and a chance to run projects valuable to the business.
Subsidised Canteen
Above 25 days holiday
A very good yet competitive graduate scheme.
The Culture
Yes there were 28 interns who throughout the year tried to organise events and chances to meet up.
The cost of living and socialising a little more than the average UK areas outside of London.
Good nightlife.
Yes lots of volunteering opportunities both in and out of work.
