About You
I was given the opportunity to meet people from all areas of the firm at both Partner, Of Counsel, Senior and junior associate and trainee level. Very fun and interesting time at the firm!
I was always given feedback after I completed tasks and this was really helpful as it taught me a lot and also made me feel as though the work I was doing was important and an integral part of the bigger picture.
I was given a lot of guidance- my buddy was always willing to explain things that I didn't understand and the Graduate recruitment team were also great at helping to put us in contact with the right people.
My presentation skills were definitely enhanced by taking part in the client pitch. I feel much more informed about the firm and this will help me make the right decision about my career.
The Company
Very well structured, we had talks organised most days and at the end of week 2 a client pitch and on week 3 an interview. The social events were also well spread.
I really loved my time at Bakers, everyone made me feel welcome and was willing to talk to me about the firm and what life really is like. I was also particularly impressed by the attendance by trainees to our social events- this made all the difference!
We were given a day of formal inductions which benefitted us by teaching us the essentials for working in a corporate environment. The talks also gave us a good building block for understanding the structure of the firm.
Very much so. People were very honest about what it is like so I feel I know that it may be tough at times but that the people in the firm are supportive and friendly so that will make it better.
I really feel that this was a key point of the scheme. It is easy for a firm to claim to be friendly and inclusive on a website but being here it is clear that this is the case on the ground too!
Everything Else
Plenty in both a formal and informal setting which was nice to get an idea of both sides to the firm
Really fun- pizza making was a particular highlight and an opportunity to talk to people about themselves and not just work.
Yes- pro- bono in particular and I was lucky enough to have gone to a pro-bono clinic. I am also keen to join the netball team that plays every Monday.
