About You
This was a very enjoyable experience, I gained a lot more knowledge about the construction industry. It was a fantastic opportunity that has made me want to pursue a career in construction even more. It was enjoyable to share my week with other people of a similar age in a similar position with the same interest of working within construction. Mace is a fantastic company which I hope to work for at some point in the near future.
I felt very valued throughout the whole process from the application stage through to the end of the week. Everyone was very welcoming and appreciated your input and were more than happy to answer our questions. Through this process the team was very welcoming and was definitely considering how you would fit in if you were to one day work at Mace.
There was a lot of support and guidance throughout the week. It was very formal and organised and we always had a task to complete or a site to go and visit or a talk from professionals at the company. Whenever you asked a question every member of staff was very helpful and informative and willing to listen to you.
Throughout the week we gained interview skills and developed CV skills during a workshop. The information we received was extremely beneficial. We learnt about every single aspect of construction, all the jobs available to ourselves on the graduate scheme. We visited sites and learnt about innovative methods of construction and how we could get involved in the industry.
The Company
The week was very well structured, we had a set schedule for the week and each one of us got given a one to one with a Mace graduate of our choice. Each day was packed full of information and was very enjoyable. We had many Mace employees come in and explain to us what their role was in the company and how we could progress into their position.
The atmosphere was fun, friendly and lively but everyone also had a serious approach to the week as we all wanted to gain as much information and knowledge as possible from the week to better ourselves. When it was time to listen everyone was very respectful towards each other when speaking.
The firm spent a lot of time and effort putting together the week, a lot of arranging and placements of each individual. We spent a whole afternoon developing our interview technique, presentation and CV skills. Several employees helped us and gave us personal reflection on how well we came across in an interview. We also developed a lot of knowledge of the industry and the company.
The week was very insightful, we saw employees on site and asked questions about what their day to day role is within the company. We learned about different opportunities available to us and how we could gain a job with Mace. We saw the many job roles available and what their week consists of it was a very good experience.
The week informed us of all the networking and social opportunities available to bring the team together. The company has a very friendly culture and everyone there wants to succeed, be healthy and happy within the company. There were a lot of opportunities to get involved in the community and available opportunities to enable them to learn and develop as much as possible.
Everything Else
All throughout the week we met many employees from the company in which we could network and gain contact details. It was a great networking experience with the other people on the insight week as we will all one day be working within construction. We got the opportunity to spend an afternoon with employees who had the role you wished to pursue to see what their day to day life was in the role.
I would definitely recommend the week to anyone who has the opportunity to take it. The week opened my eyes to the construction industry as it is such a large company with many sections within the business and all the different opportunities available are fantastic. It has definitely made me determined to work for Mace and be able to work on such large amazing construction projects.
