The Role
I really enjoyed my placement, the people in the company are really easy to work with and the professionalism instills a great culture throughout the business. It's very hard work but extremely rewarding.
The fellow placement students made my year, we supported each other throughout and gave each other advice. The area managers were very supportive and the responsibility we had during the year was great.
I had a mentor who was more than willing to help me if I ever had any problems. Everyone I asked for help from throughout was willing to give me guidance.
During store time you do up to 50 hours a week - considering this was a large majority of the year I was extremely busy with little time for social activities. This is where getting along with the other IP's came in handy, as we were all in the same position. Project time was less busy however, giving more time for personal life.
A LOT. Running stores, completing projects for directors and making decisions throughout the company. I struggle to find people who have had as much responsibility during their placement year as those who work for Aldi.
Interpersonal skill development has set me up for a successful final year at uni, having the confidence and maturity to contribute in lectures as well as the time management for studying.
The Company
Really positive atmosphere - fun was well balanced with professionalism.
Some aspects of the year were advertised but not fulfilled, this was disappointing however this is being rectified for years to come.
We were fully trained in the same way those on the graduate scheme were, setting us up to come back as area managers if offered a place.

The offer to come back to the company is offered subject to performance and whether you want the job or not. This is great as security when going back to university and it is great company to work for.
