The Role
I have really enjoyed my time at SAP. I've had opportunities to get involved with a variety of different tasks, projects and areas of the business. The people I have worked with have been great and I really enjoyed the office environment (which I think makes a big difference). I have gained a much better understanding of how a large corporate business works and more of an insight into grad jobs I will apply for - both key things that I wanted to get out of this year!
I've always felt that the role of interns at SAP is seen as important across the business (this is one of the main things that attracted me to the placement in the first place). Everyone within the team and others I have worked with throughout my placement have always treated me the same as any other full time employee and made me feel valued.
My managers have always been willing to offer advice and support me when needed. The support was very much lead by me and although I don't think this style would suit everyone, it has worked well for me. I think managers at SAP are generally more than willing to help you, if you are willing to give back.
This varied but most of the time I had lots to keep me busy. At times throughout the year, the job can be very demanding and there have been periods of time that I have had to do long hours. At other times where I haven't been as busy with my day-to-day job, there's always been other things to get involved in.
I was given a lot of responsbility over the year, varying from task-to-task. I have been responsible for everything from admin tasks to running assessment centres in the Nordics. I definitely don't feel that you are micro managed at SAP; despite being an intern you are expected to take complete ownership of key tasks/projects etc and this has made me experience much more valuable.
A lot. In general, I have learnt about business processes and how things actually work in a business. Just being heavily involved in day-to-day office life has taught me so much that will help me in my final year but especially when going into a grad job. Although I would say the majority of training and development is on the job at SAP, there has been formal training opportunities. As well as virtual training courses, all interns were encouraged to go to the specific intern development days. As a group, we elected to learn about personalities in the workplace, presentation skills and connecting with clients - all of which should be useful in the future.
The Company
Despite being a high pressured corporate environment, the general atmosphere is good! The office is open plan so there's always someone to talk to and there's always plenty of activity. You do feel a change in atmosphere at critical times but you soon get used it and know what to expect.
The recruitment and onboarding was a good start! Everyone in the business seems to understand the purpose of interns and knows about the programme. As far as I know, the programme is less structured than other placements, meaning everyone's experience is different and it really depends on your team. I've not necessarily found this to be a bad thing as it has allowed me to manage my own time and I have still had reviews with my managers.
As I mentioned before there were three key development events funded by the company throughout the year. In addition, I felt there was time invested in my development from the perspective of on the job training and support. People throughout the business were always keen to know what I wanted to gain from my time here and encouraged me to get involved in things to support that.

I would definitely consider returning to SAP at some point in the future! At the moment there is only an official graduate scheme for sales but more and more interns are being brought back in other full time roles.
The Culture
There was plenty of social events throughout the year both work and non-work related. There was a big Christmas party and other drinks events etc. At the office I've worked in there was around 35 interns and I think this is the right amount to make it feel like a community.
I lived at home so the cost for me was fine/normal.
There's nothing in walking distance of the main office but it doesn't take long to get into areas that do have a good nightlife.
Plenty. There was a variety of different fundraisers and awareness events, offsites and team events.
