About You
The insight week was very enjoyable. I learned a lot about KPMG, some new life skills and had the opportunity to meet many friendly and welcoming people. I made some good friends on this scheme.
I was actively asked for my opinions on projects during the work shadowing week and my ideas were listened to. I was treated as an equal and felt valued to the firm.
We were given a lot of support throughout the week and it was easy to ask questions and advice. All my questions were answered well. We were always given a clear idea in the morning of exactly what we would be doing throughout the day so we could prepare.
I learned so many life skills during this course including presentation skills, teamwork, how to have a personal brand, how to network effectively and how to think analytically. I will definitely use these back at university, in my future career and in day to day life.
The Company
We were told at the beginning of the week exactly what we would be doing each day and were told each day the specific structure for that day. The insight felt very well planned out and ran very smoothly.
Most of the time the atmosphere was very fun, friendly and welcoming. KPMG employees and the other people on the insight week were all friendly and easy to talk to. The atmosphere was slighly stressful during the assessed exercise on the thursday afternoon as were were being watched for our teamwork skills by assessors and being marked. This was to be expected though.
The firm gave us extensive training in many different skill areas and i feel they invested a lot in us.
The week gave us the opportunity to work shadow and this gave a really good insight into the daily life of a KPMG employee. We were able to help out on real projects so we got a good idea of the type of work that is done and what the working atmosphere is like.
The shadowing day gave a great insight into how the graduate teams work together. Additionally, we heard talks about life at KPMG and how their employees maintain a good work life balance.
The week definitely helped me to confirm that I would like to work at KPMG in consulting and i am more inclined to work in tech but i would still like to explore other areas of consulting at KPMG.
Everything Else
around £300 for the week plus expenses
We had many opportunities to network through evening drinks, a lunch, a dinner and the work shadowing day.
I had a great opportunity to network and attend social events including at quarterly drinks, lunch with my work shadowing team and a formal organised dinner.
We found out about many different activities that KPMG employees can get involved in including sports, charity work and travel.
I loved the week, learned a lot and increased my network so would definitely recommend.
