About You
I really enjoyed the week I spent at KPMG. We all learned a lot about the structure of the company and also about a career in technology in general - it was definitely a useful way to spend a week!
It really felt like everyone wanted us there and was keen to meet us - during the dinner the head of the technology team was there as were several other partners.
I did feel like we received a lot of guidance. However perhaps more time could have been spent on what each of the different teams do?
We did a lot of presentations and I definitely feel that the skills I learned on this and also on things like first impressions, personal branding, etc will help with my degree and beyond.
The Company
It was relatively well structured. Another day career shadowing and perhaps one fewer presentation would have been very helpful, but generally the way the week was set out made a lot of sense.
KPMG seemed like a really great place to work. Everyone was incredibly friendly, both the people from KPMG and the others on the insight!
It felt like we were really valued so I do feel that they invested in us. It definitely felt like they wanted us to continue with the firm through to a summer internship.
With another day of work shadowing this would probably have been clearer. I was with the financial modelling team during the work shadowing day which felt a little removed from the rest of the tech teams so I'm not so sure!
The culture of KPMG seemed really friendly and like a really great place to work - everybody felt valued there. The insight definitely helped us to understand the culture.
Although I'm not totally certain of a career in technology, the week definitely helped me to learn about what it would be like.
Everything Else
There were plenty of networking opportunities and also a dinner.
They were generally pretty good, although some of them I wouldn't consider networking, more just getting a general feel for the company.
I'm not totally sure, although they seem to have a lot of sport going on.
To anyone thinking of a career in technology - definitely apply! It really helped.
