    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Work shadowing employees and working with the other interns were really fun. I also really liked the atmosphere at the firm. There was information overload on the first day so I feel like I didn't get a chance to process all the information I received about the firm properly.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • The people were very friendly and willing to answer all our questions. You could sense that they care about what they were telling us and genuinely enjoyed their jobs and the firm. In addition, I felt the firm made an effort to invest in the programme- there were a number of complimentary items even though we were only there for a week.

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • The programme coordinators were very supportive especially during the tasks.

    5/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?

    The Company

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere was friendly

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We had 3 different opportunities to practice our teamwork and presentation skills. The first was on a charity based case; the second, a business case and the last was the assessment exercise. We were also given a talk on personal branding. This gave us the opportunity to learn more about how we came across to people as it was very interactive.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • A day was dedicated to shadowing someone at the firm. Much of the day was spent getting to know the people in the different departments we were given and I feel a got a glimpse of the type of work required if I had a full time role with the company. However, I would have preferred if we spent more time shadowing employees and if we got to experience the firm from the perspective of people at different levels in the firm. I shadowed a senior manager and felt my experience with her was not reflective of the type of work I would be doing at an entry level role. Getting the perspective of both a person in a senior role and one in a more junior role would have given me a more accurate idea of what I would be doing when I start at the firm and what I have to look forward to - in terms of future work.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Very much. The work shadowing day played a huge part in this. We were able to see how employees interacted with one another and were able to ask them questions about life at the firm. There were a lot of social events with the employees at KPMG - lunch, a dinner and drinks on the last day- and most of the responses I got about the culture were similar. This made it easier to understand the culture
