About You
I really enjoyed the insight week! I found all the sessions very valuable and the opportunities made the week truly enjoyable and exciting
As a first year intern, I imagined that I would be unvalued at KPMG, however we were treated like graduate employees by everyone!
I received lots of guidance and support from both the employees running the programme and all KPMG staff
I believe that the skills we learnt about presentation skills, personal brand and general technology consulting will help me with presentations and applications in the future.
The Company
The insight was very well structured, with clear agendas set every morning and very organised structure.
The general atmosphere was probably my favourite thing about the insight. KPMG has a very friendly vibe throughout the organisation and the people here created an amazing atmosphere.
I believe the firm invested a lot of training and development into us. Ultimately, all of the interns on the programme are only first years and these sorts of schemes are not normally available to us. However, KPMG have provided me with a fantastic opportunity to develop great skills this early on in my degree and career that will guide me through the rest of my career search.
The first couple of days were very general and could have been applied to any organisation within the professional service field, but then I was given the opportunity to shadow a senior manager and I spent the whole day with her and her team, completing task and learning more about the organisation. I was treated like an employee and it really provided me with a true understanding of what it would be like to work at KPMG. As the week drew to a close, we met loads of people from all around the firm and it helped me understand the culture and type of person that KPMG employ.
The insight was very helpful as we met loads of people that explained the culture and the main values were explained to us throughout the week.
The content of every day was very useful as it allowed us to meet lots of people from different areas of technology consulting who all provided a true and fair insight into their everyday jobs and what it is like working at KPMG. This was very useful as it allowed me to work out whether the culture and type of work that these people complete suits my personality traits and career goals for the future.
Everything Else
The internship is paid and travel expenses are reimbursed.
Yes! Everyday the people running the progamme brought in a range of employees from the firm to speak to us from a range of fields which was extremely useful and interesting. In addition to this, on the Wednesday of shadowing, KPMG had their quarterly drinks where we had the opportunity to network and meet with all employees from all divisions, not just technology consulting. These employees ranged from graduates to partners.
The networking events were great. such as the carousel activities, the team lunches and the drinks and the social events such as the final dinner were really good for everyone on the scheme.
Not really.
100% It has provided me with a great insight into KPMG, technology consulting and the general world of work! In addition, being able to fast track onto a summer vacation scheme saves the stress of applying to internships when back at university and when the stressful work begins.
