About You
It was a great vacation scheme, carefully planned and clear that a lot of time and effort had gone into organising it. The firm as a whole was great.
Everyone at the firm made a huge effort to include all of the vac schemers - we were made to feel as if we were already trainees. Cannot fault the inclusivity of the firm.
A lot of guidance and support from buddy and supervisor. I was lucky enough to be given a buddy and supervisor who I got on really well with. Again made to feel as if I was a trainee.
Huge amount of work given, training and insight presentations that has enhanced my understanding of concepts which will come in useful in the future
The Company
Very good structure, although every breakfast meeting was put on after a social (probably done on purpose as a test) but I think this was a bit unfair
It is always hard to achieve a good atmosphere amongst candidates when they are in direct competition but grad rec somehow managed to do this well. Atmosphere in the office in general and my department was friendly and relaxed
Intense two days of training and continuous development throughout the three weeks
I was given trainee tasks and worked trainee hours, given access to all the benefits trainees would receive including free dinner after 7pm
I feel as if I'm already part of the furniture - surely a good indication of understanding what life is like here
Already set on becoming commercial lawyer so didn't really contribute to this
Everything Else
Paid national min wage but not reimbursed for travel (essentially eating up pay)
Many socials hosted throughout the three weeks including karaoke night, partner dinner and special networking session
Really enjoyable although I would say that perhaps the karaoke would have been more enjoyable had it been towards the end of the three weeks because it was a bit strained doing this activity with people you had just met
Lucky enough to have been invited to Corporate Games event held by firm and variety of other activities
100%
