The Role
I have really enjoyed my placement at GE. I've been able to get involved in various projects and a number of opportunities that I otherwise would have missed out on.
I felt incredibly valued by my colleagues. I took on extra work that was always acknowledged and thanked for. The new Personal Development tool at GE also lets you understand how valued you are as it enables your colleagues to give you insights.
I was given a lot of support from my Manager and colleagues. If ever I needed help or guidance they were always willing to help.
On a daily basis I was quite busy. I never had a moment where I was bored or didn't have anything to do. I took on extra projects where I could fit them in around my core role.
I was given a lot of responsibility in my role at GE. Despite being an Intern, you are provided with a complete role within the team.
I believe that the skills and training gained from this placement will be incredibly beneficial in my degree studies and in other jobs I may apply to in future. The role I was in has enabled me to dramatically improve skills such as time management and communication which will be very helpful back at Uni.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office was always really positive and happy. Generally quite quiet and peaceful, but at the same time was an environment where you could have a laugh and joke with colleagues.
The internship was really well organised. There was an initial induction day where you learn all about the company and its beliefs. The handover with the current intern in the same role is also really beneficial and allows you to ask any questions and really learn about the role before you start on your own a few weeks later.
I was given a lot of personal development and training. I was given the opportunity to travel to complete some training at another of GEs offices in Europe.

Employment prospects at GE are very appealing. I have loved every second of this internship and wouldn't think twice about applying for a graduate role or permanent position here in future.
The Culture
Yes, there were a number of intern events that were organised such as charity pub quizzes and nights out. With colleagues we also regularly went out for an office lunch.
I didn't live locally to the office, instead commuted from around 50 miles away. I can't speak for the cost of living.
I didn't live locally to the office, instead commuted from around 50 miles away. I can't speak for the nightlife. .
There are opportunities to get involved in charity events such as tough mudder and other running/endurance events.
