The Role
Was great to be treated like a regular employee and not just a student on work experience. Was exciting at first to get started and try new things, but work was very repetitive in the lab and sometimes boring. Sometimes I found myself with nothing to do, Luckily I had Uni assignments to do at these times.
Quite valued.
Not much, I didnt get much support off management, however I got a lot from my trainer. I was quite shocked as Managers are supposed to have regular 1:1 with their staff, and I never had these meetings. Also I found out at the end of the year my manager was supposed to create a placement plan for me to follow throughout the year - there was no plan written for me.
Couple days out of the week I would be quite busy which I liked. However most days I was bored.
Quite a lot. I was trusted a lot.
I have gained confidence when working with large numbers of people. This placement will open doors for me into the pharmaceutical industry.
The Company
Fairly busy in my lab. Everyone was quite quiet when they work, So when I was bored I didn't have much to do or many people to talk to.
Initially very well set up, I just wish I gained more support from management. I was bored most of the time. Overall the placement was a good experience and the set up applying was exciting.
I have been told that I was the best placement student at that site in that department that they have ever had. And once I graduate they would want me back.

Very appealing. I think this placement will make me stand out from others when applying to future jobs.
The Culture
There was only 5 other placement students at my site. Normally there are over 20. Not very social at my site as it was in a remote location with nothing to do nearby other than a couple pubs.
Living nearby want expensive, I drove to work everyday which was about a 10 minute drive which wasn't too bad at all. There was nothing to do nearby other than the company gym or go to a pub. The area was extremely remote. If you didn't have a car you would be very bored.
None. One pub played music om a Fri and Sat night, wasnt very good at all.
No.
