About You
I really enjoyed the summer scheme. I was able to get a feel for the firm's culture and variety of work.
In my first department, the team were especially generous in taking the time to explain the background and relevance of the tasks I was set. This gave me the sense that the work I was doing was genuinely useful. In my second department, I was set some work that had been specifically designed to teach vacation scheme students. Though I was able to contribute less to the team's efforts, it was a valuable learning exercise for me personally.
My supervisors and buddies gave me thorough and constructive feedback.
Having just finished a non-law undergraduate degree, my experience at Taylor Wessing has reaffirmed my commitment to pursuing a career in law.
The Company
Very. The inductions were a good ice breaker and thorough without being too long. Sitting in two departments provided a sense of the variety of work that Taylor Wessing is involved in. There were lots of group sessions and socials integrated into the scheme, which gave you the opportunity to bond with the other vac schemers as well as to meet some of the current trainees and other members of the firm.
Generally very positive. People got along well and seemed to be really enjoying the work and other activities that they were able to get involved in.
People took the time to explain things and were generous in sharing their advice and experiences.
I believe I was able to get a good feel for how the firm operates as a workplace and socially.
Taylor Wessing seemed to have a genuinely open and supportive culture. Except for one or two scary partners, it didn't feel hierarchical.
The scheme reaffirmed that I definitely want to pursue a career in law.
Everything Else
There were ample opportunities to meet members of the firm from all different levels and departments.
There was a great variety of social events, ranging from a ping-pong evening and a cocktail making class to the firm-wide black tie summer party. They were all very enjoyable and good opportunities to meet new members of the firm as well as to get to know people on a personal level.
Some of the vac schemers got involved in sporting or departmental activities.
Definitely.
