The Role
I would say I extremely enjoyed the experience of working within HPE. The culture within the company meant I felt like an equal valued employee and not just "an intern". There is also a lot of investment placed into interns with HPE along with numerous opportunities to be exposed to new, fun and exciting experiences.
The open and welcoming environment of the office helped me to integrate extremely quickly. As I then began to fit into my role I always felt my colleagues valued my input and opinion on any project, task or process I was involved in.
Every intern is assigned a mentor whom at any time is available to assist and help in any concern, query or task. There is also the opportunity to take part in a "shadow programme" to interact informally with people within the organisation
There was never the feeling of doing mundane daily repeated tasks - each day was different and topics always varied. Workload was constant with enough time devoted to "other" activities such charity and volunteering work
Interns will not be expected to churn out reports but rather own a process. This means you will be the point of contact for a particular process and take full ownership.
Overall the 13 month internship within HPE will help immensely with future studies. The culture within the office enhances discipline and the ability to layout all steps necessary to achieve any goal
The Company
The office is a fair balance towards professionalism with an open door policy to be able to approach anyone at any time with any question one may have. There is also a very friendly and very helpful atmosphere
All tasks given to the interns was intended to enhance growth and develop new skills. At certain times the intern may need to adapt to new ad hoc tasks that suit business needs. It is varied and can change at any moment, but still very structured.
The company invested an extensive amount of training, allowing for interns to take as many training courses as possible. There is also a scheme known as "one day for you" which employees can devote 1 working day purely to training.

The prospect of a graduate scheme within HPE is very appealing as it outlines a clear career path for an early career start.
The Culture
There were around 12 other interns on site who regularly socialize at lunch at on nights out. There was also a Christmas party and a budget for 1 team event each quarter
Canteen was a bit expensive and travel was not ideal, public transport not much of an option to the site
very good....Glasgow is a fairly large metropolitan area with a number of different events ran every week.
