The Role
Found the work interesting and challenging. Colleagues were very helpful and patient considering the pressured JIT environment. Definitely a good place to do a placement if you want to gain lots of varied experience.
In general you feel very valued by colleagues and are treated like a regular member of staff. There are a few occasions where it is clear you are sometimes viewed as 'just a student' but this is very rare.
Very very rarely was I left without feeling like I had no support and almost always could ask my supervisor for help. Was given excellent levels of training as well to make sure I felt confident enough to complete tasks.
With it being an IT support role sometimes you can be swamped by problems which can make the day very busy - but in general most days were a good balance.
Felt like I was given a lot of responsibility on quite critical and important issues.
Without a shadow of a doubt I have gained a lot of knowledge with Faurecia and also developed many skills which I would not have gained with just studying.
The Company
An excellent atmosphere in the office, sometimes people could become a little bit stressed when they were put under pressure but most of the time it was played off with a joke. People often brought in cakes/treats which helped towards the family spirit.
Student inductions took place in the first couple of weeks and training plans in place for the first few weeks.
No additional qualifications gained - but there was definitely a lot of time spent at the beginning of the placement training to acquire the skills required.
There are a couple of graduate schemes in place - need to drop on lucky with location and role at the right time however for the opportunity to be right. If you're flexible there will almost certainly be an opportunity.
The Culture
Not much to do in Lichfield.
Not the cheapest place in the world but not the most expensive either.
Same as above, not much to do in Lichfield so may have to stray further afield such as Birmingham.
Not much organized by students and nothing organized by company.
