The Role
It was a fantastic year,
My colleagues were all very supportive and made me feel part of the team by letting me know when work I had done was useful and of value and always gave me credit for work I'd helped with.
Weekly catch-ups with my supervisor, the open plan style of the office and the approachable nature of my manager make receiving and seeking guidance and support very easy.
As the year progressed I was given more tasks and actively sought out opportunities and projects to get the most out my year, which resulted in me being fairly busy on a daily basis. I didn't feel too overwhelmed though and could have spoken to my supervisor at any point if I did.
Placement students in this department are given significant responsibility and their own tasks. I also lead on several projects outside of my department when I had the chance and met with external stakeholders, which was a great opportunity.
It has provided more life skills and work based skills than ones that will be useful in my degree, simply due to the nature of my degree being very different to the role I was in this year. It has still helped improve my time management, excel and problem solving skills extensively, which will be transferrable to my degree.
